Informational > Tips and Tricks > MS CP Blades on Piccolo CP

In this document we explain how to easily fit the MS Hornet CP Carbon or white Fiberglass blades on a CP or PRO Piccolo. A bench grinder is recommended but it's very possible with a sanding block and some careful sanding. Lets get started, here are the blades used.

Start by marking each blade root right at the mounting lug a little less then halfway down from the edge. Take great care not to mark too far down since if too much material is taken away, the blades will be too loose and hard balsa or light plywood filler will need to be glued to the blades.

Carefully grind away a little bit of material on each side ensuring that the blades are held flat. Take enough material off to just about touch the marks. Then test fit into the blade grips. If they are too tight, don't force it since it could break the grips. If you are using a sanding block, make sure you sand perfectly flat and parallel to the blades grips itself so the pitch doesn't get changed

Continue to test fit the blade onto the blade grips and when satisfied with the fit, they can be balanced and mounted. If a more complete finish is desired, then the blades can be masked off and painted a gloss white over the area where the grinding and sanding was done.

Mask only the area where material was taken off as shown and apply a few light coats of gloss white on both sides and let dry.

On the bottom you will find a picture of a Piccolo Pro with the MS Blades balanced and mounted.

Now all that is left is simply to set the proper Pitch curve. The picth curve will need to be adjusted since these blades will increase headspeed a bit.

These are a great alternative to stock blades on the CP or PRO piccolos.
