The Kokam 1000mAh Lithium Polymer cells will truly make your Micro Heli go ballistic. These Lithium cells are 4.2 volts each and will deliver more power while reducing the overall weight (A 3 cell pack weighs 64.5 grams).

These cells will dramatically increase flight time and deliver superior power not available before. The cell is an excellent solution for electric motors pulling 4 amps or less.
The two cell Kokam 1020 pack is similar in power to a 7 cell 300 mah nimh pack with better current handling, less weight, and 3 times the duration. A 3 cell pack would be very close to a 10 cell nimh pack in power.

Charging:
A special lithium charger is required to charge lithium cells:
Use the high-end Orbit or the new economical Wes Tech lithium chargers.
1C (1 x battery capacity) is the recommend maximum charge rate from Kokam. So for a 1020 Kokam cell, you would want to set the charge rate at 1 amp or below.
Remember that you can also always charge Kokam's at lower current settings but it is not recommended to exceed 1C.

Recommendation:
A two cell pack is recommended for the Piccolo when using a Piccoboard. This should extend the life of the tail motor. A three cell pack with a Brushless B22 Hacker motor is recommended for the Hornet.

Storage:
Lithium Poly cells can be left at room temperature as they have much lower self discharge (about 5% in six months).

Specifications:
- Cell voltage 3.7 Nominal; 4.2V Maximum
- Copper foil plate with lithium & carbon active element
- Polymer separator and polymer electrolyte and plastic enclosure under heavy vacuum
- Terminals are ribbon tabs for easy soldering
- Up to 5C Discharge rate and Up to 1C Charge rate
- Cycle life of 600 cycles with loss of < 20% capacity
- Operating temperature 0 - 45 deg C.
- Weight: .72 ounce (20.5 Grams) per cell
- Size: 2.42" x 1.32" x .210" (61 x 33 x 5.5mm)
- Cell Capacity: 3.5 to 4 Amps sustained, 5+ amps, short bursts.

The cells are sold individually or as packs. Special soldering tabs included for easy soldering. Connect the cells in a serial or parallel configuration. Wrap the pack with electrical tape or large shrink tubing to hold the cells in place as a single pack. Protect the soldering tabs to prevent the tabs from breaking or detaching. Add the battery connector and charge the Lithium Pack.

Which configuration to setup ?

The Lithium Cells can be made into serial and / or parallel packs. In serial configuration the total voltage will increase
( i.e.: 1 cell @ 4.2V x 3 = 12.6V per pack ) where in parallel the amperage will increase ( i.e.:
1 cell @ 1020mAH x 3 = 3060mAH ) and so you must make sure that you choose the proper configuration for your application with respect to the motor used, total load and type of Helicopter.

ATTENTION

Always Exercise great caution when working with Li-polymer Kokam batteries. All Kokam batteries contain a 50% charge from the Factory. A short circuited pack can easily start a fire. Their long pre-attached tabs make it very easy to short out on nearby conductive surfaces. When assembling the Kokam's, the battery terminals will be in very close proximity to one another. YOU MUST BEWARE OF THIS AT ALL TIMES & COVER THE TERMINALS WHEN NEEDED TO PREVENT SHORT-CIRCUITS!!! Soldering in itself is dangerous. Use adequate ventilation & eye protection at all times. The following section is for assembling two & three cell Kokam 1020 battery packs. Most of the tips here can be applied to other kokam cell types.
